The Knowledge House for Craft is a new association for those who create and maintain craft knowledge. It is where different cultures can converse around a shared interest in the role of making. Although geographically diverse, our members and our guests share a common interest in building a dynamic repository and dialogue about crafts and their ecologies.
In summary, we acknowledge the importance of materiality in an increasingly abstract world and the plurality of perspectives beyond the Western model. Our goal is to support the creation, sharing and maintenance of information and ideas about the handmade.
Through Garland magazine, we have been hosting a series of [talks](http://garlandmag.com/wheel) that sample important issues in craft knowledge from the wider world. We have also started groundwork on a repository for this knowledge, which also contains our manifesto.
One of our key activities/projects is to connect groups who, like us, support craft knowledge, including universities, museums, associations, workshops, festivals and projects. We hope to facilitate a sharing of information and collaboration that will strengthen our field.
Organisations are welcome to join our network. Members can share information of interest to the wider community through our email list. This is especially useful for projects that might benefit from a broader audience.
Please send an email to knowledgehouseofcraft(@)gmail.com to learn about joining this network.
