The training programme drew out participants' perspectives of their home cultures and personal journeys to inform their design and product development process. In preparation for the exhibition, they were coached to express their own cultural stories through memory-mining, self-narration, and material experimentation in the form of a textile collage creation. The textile arts were then used as branding designs for their product prototypes for the exhibition. This project encouraged the displaced individuals to engage with their cultural roots in the creative process and question their own social identity. It also encouraged them to interpret their traditions to a new audience. Most of all, as reported by the staff at the NGO hosted the program, the participants have grown in confidence and found a sense of belonging when their work were showcased in a large scale exhibition.
