The three projects are run and founded by Claudia Betancourt and Nano Pulgar since 2003. We live and work off the grid in Andean Patagonia, Chile. We create and maintain craft knowledge first by being the third generation of traditional craft makers. Also by opening new ways, narratives, contexts and visual operations from and to those craft traditions. The school also contributes strongly to that. We also collaborate and assist traditional local craft makers on their creative process and production efficiency. Now with WALKA Conservation Patagonia we work with nature, neighbors and colleagues on a collaborative framework. With nature our relationship is based on slow living, feeling her, learning from her and restoring her strongness/robustness through our Off the Grid Conservation/Restauration Projects. Nowadays we are managing/restoring 5 hectares in the middle of old/wild forest, volcanoes, lakes, rivers, hotsprings, flora, fauna and fungi ecosystem. With our neighborhoods (both natives -Mapuche People- and not natives people from this territory) we collaborate with them on the basis of the "Minga/Mingako" traditional system. It is a mutually beneficial relation based on reciprocity, help and kindness.
Question: How are we rethinking our craft/making/art/quotidian living in a context of ecological big damage?
